Georgetown Gala Heats Up: Are you In?

The Georgetown Gala 2009
The Georgetown Gala 2009
It's not too late to be included on the Georgetown's invitation of the year: the Georgetown Gala at the Russian Embassy Oct. 15. Run don't walk to join this fun and high-profile gathering.

The Gala will be a formal but fun evening with dancing, traditional Russian performers, vodka & caviar, an elegant buffet, and a brief presentation to honor several outstanding Georgetowners. The Gala brings together over 400 residents, businesses, organizations and government leaders and highlights the Citizens Association of Georgetown’s mission of historic preservation and improving the life of the community.

Caveat emptor: the deadline is Monday to be included as an individual or corporate sponsor. It will be the height of election season...all of Washington will be tuned in. The invitation goes to over 4000 people, featuring Washington's leaders in politics, investment, business, and philanthropy.

This year's theme is "To Russia With Love." Independent-thinking Senator Chuck Hagel and Russian Ambassador Kislyak are the honorary co-chairs; the Right On Band will perform.

The event will also honor Georgetown's beloved contributors. Anna Fuhrman and Barbara Downs are said to be among the chosen few. The silent auction will include trips to exotic locales in exclusive homes, (think Martha's Vineyard, the Carribean, Africa - pack your bags!).  Of course, it's Black Tie. Thank goodness.

CAG works tirelessly to improve the safety and livability of Georgetown along with preserving the beauty of this historic neighborhood. It has reactivated a block captain program and expanded the Public Safety Program. The Trees for Georgetown program has planted countless trees this year which keep the neighborhood green, healthy, and vibrant – a draw to tourists and customers.
